Political and economic framework

Reliability of RES support scheme

As the KEV (Kostendeckende Einspeisevergütung - Cost-covering feed-in tariff) for wind power ends in 2023, the new one-time investment contribution is the only funding support for wind power in the near future. The KEV had the advantage of funding the project regardless of additional factors like the project's site. In contrast, the new funding instrument will only support those projects, that are located in areas of high production estimation, although other projects with a less fortunate site selection would still be economically viable.

It needs to be noted however that this policy will only affect future installations as the currently planned projects will still benefit from the KEV.
